Our Vision

Home/About Us/Our Vision

The John Wesley Church of England and Methodist Aided Primary School is a voluntary aided primary school catering for the educational needs of children from the age of 4 to 11. There is also an attached pre-school ‘The Little Ark’ with 52 sessional places. The school is affiliated to both the Anglican and Methodist churches and enjoys wider church links.

At The John Wesley CEMP School we provide a broad and balanced education for all the children within our care. We aim to create a happy, caring and stimulating learning environment in which all the children can grow in self-esteem and fulfil their potential.  Please click here to visit our documents library policies area to read policy information in full, including our British Values Statement.

Our Aims

The aim of The John Wesley CEMP School is that pupils leave having achieved the appropriate level of skills, self-discipline and positive self-image to enable them to progress into the next phase of social and academic education. This is achieved by analysing the caring and structured environment in which the children are perceived as having a positive contribution to make, through their moral judgement, social skills and personal discipline – all combined in a realistic and positive self-image. At The John Wesley CEMP School we are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all of our pupils so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. We believe every pupil should be able to participate in all school activities in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from harm. This is the responsibility of every adult employed by, or invited to deliver services at, The John Wesley CEMP School. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all our pupils by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional abuse, neglect and bullying.

Our Mission Statement

Our Christian values of:

Love, Compassion, Patience, Persistence and Forgiveness allow for an inclusivity that welcomes all and reveres and respects all members of our community as individuals who are known and loved by God.

By learning together we aim to:

  • Enable children to reach their full potential in all aspects of the school curriculum through a love of learning
  • Foster each child’s growing perception of the world, encouraging self-control, self-respect and emotional and spiritual growth that, in turn, helps pupils to recognise that other people are unique, special and of equal value to themselves and to God

Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.

1 Peter 3:8

Our Ethos and Values

The ethos of the school is a clear reflection of the aims of the School: That the work of the school is based upon clear principles and values evident in its practice. Relationships throughout the school are open and consistent, encouraging confidence in pupils combined with mutual respect. The School offers a range of opportunities for the pupils to extend their personal experiences. A code of practice is promoted and observed based upon personal qualities founded on a moral code and effected through all the School does. The pupils are encouraged to develop their own personal values as well as developing quality relationships so that pupils feel free to express and explore their views openly and honestly. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions, at the same time acquiring knowledge and skills which help to develop understanding of spiritual, moral, cultural and social issues. Throughout, the School encourages and promotes an ethos that extends to all persons being friendly towards each other, combined with a mutual respect built on a combination of trust, goodwill and sharing values.
