A group of recorder players from year 5 were fortunate enough to be part of the Highworth Playday, along with seven other local primary schools, to show off all that they have been learning during their recorder lessons. There was not a spare seat in Highworth’s main hall; it was full of children and instruments – including violins, trumpets, guitars, clarinets and melodicas.
Every school had the opportunity to share a piece that they had been working on. Despite feeling a little nervous, our year 5’s played a piece called Peanut Butter Pals (in 2 parts!) beautifully and everyone enjoyed listening to what other schools had achieved during their own music lessons.
We finished off the morning by playing ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ in a huge orchestra before heading back to school for lunch. We’re already looking forward to next year!
