Term 1 Connected Learning

Our Connected Learning question in Term 1 is ‘What can we find in our school?’

In History, we will be looking at the life of Mae Jemison, celebrating Black History Month during October.

In Geography, we will look at our school grounds and at weather patterns in our country. We will also study the North and South Poles.

In Science, the children will be exploring each of their five senses. This will involve using each sense to investigate how it is used and compare their findings.

Each sense will be explored each week, with objectives such as ‘What factors affect our sense of taste?’ (where we will be tasting food, blind folded). Also, looking at our sense of sight, testing whether everyone sees the same image in an optical illusion.

In RE, we will be looking at what Christians believe about God, using stories from the Bible as a reference.

In Music, we will be looking at the difference between pulse and rhythm. In ICT, we will be learning about E-safety. In PSHE, we will be learning about boundaries and expectations. In DT, we will be designing, making and evaluating a sandwich to take to the South Pole to follow our English focus story.
