Term 5 Connected Learning

This term, our learning question is: The Future of the Planet is in Our Hands?

Through our Connected Learning, we will continue to look at 'Living things in their Habitat', which will be reinforced with a visit to the local Environment Centre early in the term.  We will be learning about how humans impact living things and what we can do to reduce this impact; in particular through Rainforests in our Geography unit.  In English this term we will be reading 'Where the Forest meets the sea' by Jeannie Baker, where we will be making information pages that could be displayed at a zoo. In our Guided Reading we have a book called, 'The Problem with Plastic' and 'Fantastically Great Women who Saved the Planet'  by Kate Pankhurst, where we will be learning about the language structure and layout of non-fiction text.  As part of our Art,  we will be exploring and recreating art in the style of Indigenous people from the NW USA and Canada. We will investigate and research totem poles and recreate our own totem pole entitled 'This is me!'   In Maths, we will be starting to learn about Decimals and applying these skills to Money and worded problems.  We will continue to build on and learn to recall our times tables mentally.  Finally, in RE, we will be learning about  Hindu Dharma, where we will focus on the question 'What does it mean to be a Hindu living in Britain today?'
