Term 2 Connected Learning
This term, our learning question is: How have the Greeks influenced the world we live in?
Through our Connected Learning, we will be learning about the Ancient Greeks; looking at their achievements and how they have influenced the western world today.
In English this term we will be reading 'Leon and the Place between' by Angela McAllister. The children will explore the circus through invigorating senses which will be transferred into their writing . The focus of the writing will be to use descriptions where they will add detail with expanded noun phrases and fronted adverbials. We will also look at extended sentences with conjunctions and plurals and the differences between using an apostrophes for possession. In our Guided Reading we have a book called, 'The train to impossible places' by PG Bell, where we will be developing our skills in using inference (identifying how character felt), discussing words and phrases that capture the readers attention and summarising events in the story.
As part of our Science , we will be exploring sounds; where the children will begin to understand how the ear works and how sound travels. They will investigate pitch and amptitude through different experiments.
In Maths, we will be moving onto area of shapes this term and then multiplication. We have started using 'Mastery in Number' to build on our understanding of our multiplication facts and to secure our understanding of times tables.
Finally, in RE, we will learn about the 'Who is John Wesley?' and 'What are the big moments in his life?' This will help develop the children's understanding of Methodism and its ideals.
