Term 5 Connected Learning
This term in English and Guided Reading, we will be focusing on traditional African themes and tales, reading both ‘The Hunter’ and extracts from ‘African Tales: A Barefoot Collection’. We will use these texts to take inspiration for our own stories using skills we have learned this year, including relative clauses, adverbs, correctly punctuated speech and sophisticated language. In History, we will be learning about the Early Islamic Civilisation and the spread of knowledge and trade routes. This is supported by our topic in RE ‘What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?’, where we will explore key stories, traditions and beliefs of Islam. In Maths, we will begin by learning about angles, and then move on to position and direction, as well as decimals. In Science we will explore the development and life cycle of humans, whilst learning about our growing bodies in PSHE.
