Term 6 Curriculum
This term, our English book is The Sea Saw by Tom Percival. We’ll be helping the children build confidence in sharing their ideas, learning new vocabulary and asking questions to deepen their understanding. They will practise explaining their thinking, joining ideas using words like and and because, and retelling the story to help secure their learning. We will also be supporting the children to develop their writing skills and encouraging them to write short sentences independently.
In Maths, we will continue developing counting skills, working with larger numbers and exploring different counting strategies. We will also practise number facts and build on our subitising skills.
In Phonics, we continue following the Little Wandle programme, introducing new digraphs (two letters that make one sound). We are so proud of the progress the children have made, with many now reading more fluently and confidently. Children read each book three times at school before bringing it home on Fridays. Please return Treasure Chest books on Mondays and reading books on Wednesdays, and continue to read regularly at home.
We are also very excited for our Make it Groovy workshop on Friday 26th June, which links to our English text.

Please try to read every day and write in the reading record diary. Your child has a 'Treasure Book' that you can share together (your child is not expected to be able to read this alone) and a reading book which they have read three times at school and should also be reading it at home each night, the aim is they should be reading this book fluently by the time they return it to school on a Wednesday.
