Term 4 Curriculum

This term, we will focus our learning on pirates! Our learning will be linked to our Pathways book The Pirates Are Coming! We will look at maps and make some of our own. In Maths we will be continuing our focus on numbers to 5, comparing these and talking about smaller numbers that make up bigger numbers (composition of number). For example, 5 is made up of 4 and 1 more. We will use the language ‘more’, ‘less’ and ‘fewer’ to compare these numbers and use maths resources to represent them. In Phonics we will be working through Basics 3 graphemes and in English we will be practicing our writing and spelling skills using the sounds we know. In RE we will be learning about Easter and why Christians put a cross in and Easter garden.

Home Learning

Please try to read every day and write in the reading record diary. Your child has the 'Tricky Words' stuck into their orange reading diary, please practise these each day when you read. At the end of each week in their red phonics book we will send home the set of sounds your child has learnt that week in our Phonic lessons .  Ask your child to explain what they have been learning and show you the 'cued articulation' action for each sound, as they progress they will be able to segment and blend the sounds and words they have been learning.
